AUTOPSIES
|
Overview

Since its founding in 1983, Tampa Pathology Laboratory has provided private autopsy services throughout the state of Florida.
An autopsy is an examination of the body after death to determine the cause of death or the character and extent of changes produced by disease.
Relatives of a deceased family member, physicians, funeral directors, and attorneys inquire about autopsies for many reasons, the most common being a desire to determine a specific cause of death.
Tampa Pathology Laboratory’s autopsy service is primarily intended to meet the needs of families who have unanswered questions regarding their loved ones death.
We perform each autopsy with the care and compassion expected when dealing with such delicate matters.

Information Needed
In order to perform an autopsy we require signed authorization from an individual who has the legal right to request an autopsy (usually the next of kin). Prior to the autopsy, the pathologist will need to know any explicit anatomical restrictions or specific areas of focus. Inquires regarding autopsies can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by simply calling the laboratory at:
800.442.1304 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 800.442.1304 end_of_the_skype_highlighting or 813.932.0374 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 813.932.0374 end_of_the_skype_highlighting
After you discuss the case with a member of our staff, the autopsy can usually be scheduled within 24 to 48 hours. A final report will be completed in a minimum of 12 weeks depending on the complexity of the case.
